CANTON LUCERNE JOINS THE SWISS BLOCKCHAIN FEDERATION

Canton Lucerne, a stable hub of Switzerland’s blockchain industry with a strong focus on consulting and advisory services, has become a new member of the Swiss Blockchain Federation (SBF). Together, they aim to further strengthen Switzerland’s position as a globally leading blockchain hub.

Bern, 6 May 2026 – Today, Canton Lucerne ranks among the ten most active blockchain regions in Switzerland. According to the latest CV VC Crypto Top 50 Report, the canton is home to 73 active blockchain companies, with a clear concentration in consulting and advisory services. Lucerne thus makes a substantial contribution to the breadth and richness of the Swiss blockchain ecosystem.

Lucerne’s strength lies in the combination of a diversified business location and its proximity to educational and research institutions such as Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and University of Lucerne. These conditions create an attractive environment for companies seeking to develop blockchain technologies, provide related services, or integrate them into existing business models.

The initiative for Canton Lucerne’s accession is the result of ongoing dialogue between the business community, public administration, and stakeholders in the regional blockchain ecosystem. Joining the federation underlines the canton’s ambition to further expand its position as a forward-looking business and innovation hub and to actively help shape developments in blockchain and digital assets.

“Lucerne offers excellent conditions for successfully connecting digital innovation with the real economy. Membership in the Swiss Blockchain Federation strengthens our network and opens up additional opportunities for companies, talent, and investment,” says Fabian Peter, Head of Economic Affairs of the Canton of Lucerne.

“With Lucerne, the Swiss Blockchain Federation continues to grow: as the seventh member canton – following Ticino, Zurich, Zug, Neuchâtel, Geneva, and Bern – Lucerne further strengthens our voice. Together, we can advocate even more effectively for internationally competitive framework conditions, deepen cooperation between industry, politics, administration, and academia, and position Switzerland as one of the world’s most important blockchain hubs,” says SBF President Heinz Tännler.
