Bern, 8 December 2025 – Today, Canton Bern ranks among the ten most active blockchain regions in Switzerland. According to the latest CV VC Crypto Valley Company & Industry Report, 41 blockchain companies are active in Bern; the region’s profile is particularly strong in Consulting & Advisory as well as Community & Education. This makes Bern a substantial contributor to the diversity of the ecosystem and complements the industrial and financial focus of other cantons.

Bern’s strength in consulting and educational initiatives is reflected in the active transfer of knowledge between universities, business, and public administration. In addition to private-sector players, educational institutions such as the University of Bern regularly engage in blockchain research, continuing education programmes, and knowledge transfer.

Shaping tax frameworks

The initiative for Bern’s membership came from the cantonal tax administration. Its specialists are already active in SBF’s Tax Working Group, where they exchange views on cryptocurrencies with other experts. Beyond professional exchange, Canton Bern values access to current developments and the opportunity to actively help shape tax frameworks in the blockchain and crypto space.
