Canton of Geneva Joins the Swiss Blockchain Federation
The Canton of Geneva, a key player in Switzerland’s blockchain industry with international reach, has joined the Swiss Blockchain Federation this year. This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen Switzerland’s position as a global reference hub in the field of blockchain.
Bern, September 30, 2025 – In recent years, the Canton of Geneva has established itself as a major blockchain hub in Switzerland, with growing international visibility. With 85 registered companies in 2024, Geneva has become the fourth-largest blockchain region in the country. Ten new companies were created there in 2024 alone, marking the strongest growth ever recorded. This underscores the canton’s dynamic development.
Geneva stands out for its strong specialization in security, auditing, and compliance, with nearly 40% of companies active in these sectors. This focus is reflected in the unique concentration of law firms, compliance service providers, and international organizations dedicated to blockchain – a direct consequence of Geneva’s central role as the headquarters of numerous multilateral institutions, NGOs, and global financial players.
“Geneva is distinguished not only by its economic dynamism but also by its international influence and regulatory expertise,” said Geneva State Councillor Delphine Bachmann. “The Swiss Blockchain Federation brings together stakeholders from all regions of Switzerland. We are delighted to contribute our strengths and work together to bring new momentum to blockchain and related technologies.”
The Swiss Blockchain Federation now counts more than 80 members from various sectors. Since its creation in 2018, it has worked to create optimal framework conditions for blockchain innovation in Switzerland. With the Canton of Geneva joining, the association further strengthens its position.
“With the Canton of Geneva’s membership, the Swiss Blockchain Federation welcomes a key player recognized for its international network, legal expertise, and excellence in regulation. This is a valuable asset for our shared goal: to firmly position Switzerland as a global leader in blockchain,” said Heinz Tännler, President of the Swiss Blockchain Federation.
