An eventful year lies behind us, which has had a major impact on the crypto and blockchain industry. At the beginning of the year, the approval and launch of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in the US led to increased interest in crypto products. Another highlight was the election of President Donald Trump in the US, which gave the industry an additional boost.

Crypto has now also reached the masses: adoption has progressed rapidly in 2024 and Bitcoin has passed a significant psychological milestone at USD 100,000. Expectations for the coming year are high, and experts and analysts are optimistic about the future.

For Switzerland, however, it is important to remain vigilant. More and more countries are recognizing the potential of crypto assets and blockchain technology and are creating attractive framework conditions for companies. If Switzerland wants to maintain its status as a leading blockchain center, decisive action must be taken. The head start that Switzerland once gained through the DLT Act is visibly dwindling.

The Swiss Blockchain Federation launched the Politics working group this year in order to put the topic of blockchain back on the political agenda and drive it forward in Bern. The working group has now grown to 14 committed politicians. Together, we have held several events to discuss the future of Switzerland as a blockchain nation and made parliamentarians aware of the urgency of the situation.

Thanks to our partnership with The Good Token Society, we now have a close connection to international Geneva. The Good Token Society is a non-profit organization that strengthens the blockchain ecosystem in Geneva, connects stakeholders, promotes the exchange of best practices and drives joint action. Together, we want to make the potential of blockchain technology for positive change visible, bring stakeholders together, promote innovative projects, create appropriate policy frameworks and build a sustainable network that supports collaboration and community.

We are convinced that the coming year will be decisive for Switzerland’s position in global competition. By joining forces, we will continue to pursue our goals with vigor in 2025.
